Within the regulatory process, licenced operators may offer to make donations to socially responsible causes as part of a settlement with the Gambling Commission.
GambleAware can accept donations as part of a regulatory settlement provided the agreed use of funds supports the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms and accelerates the delivery of the strategy rather than displacing ordinary funding.
In 2018/19, GambleAware received over £7.3 million towards its work under the terms of such agreements which is allowing it to invest in a range of treatment, harm minimisation and research projects over and above those funded by ordinary donations.
