Reporting serious incidents
GambleAware follows the Charity Commission’s guidance on the reporting of serious incidents: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-report-a-serious-incident-in-your-charity
GambleAware is a commissioning body and provides grants to a number of other charities, directly and indirectly. Where these charities experience a serious incident, the responsibility for reporting it to the Charity Commission lies with their own trustees.
If a serious incident report relates to activities funded by GambleAware, we require that we be provided with a copy of the report, subject to any redaction required by GDPR.
The GambleAware Board will decide independently whether to submit their own report to the Charity Commission in respect of a serious incident at a funded charity if it is considered there is an additional risk to GambleAware in its role as commissioner, regardless of whether the commissioned body’s trustees report a particular incident.
